The naming of the Eagles Nest
came about when the family went out to Rapid River. While along
side the water the children looked up and saw an Eagle souring
high in the sky. There was excitement and awe at the sight of
this bird. A conversation was elicited about the feathers of an
eagle. It was mentioned that only a Native American could pick
up a feather.
There is a law in Michigan that indicates that Native Americans
can only possess eagle feathers. The thought of being
forbidden to keep a feather was fascinating to all that participated
in the conversation. The children ask if they could change the
name of the motel from Lencor Motel to Eagles Nest. It
was agreed upon. Thus, now we have the Eagles Nest Motel.
